DStv & signal
- “No signal, error E48-32”
- Nine times out of ten the dish has drifted off the satellite, or water has got into the LNB. We re-align on a signal meter and seal it so it stays put.
- “Picture freezes when the weather turns”
- That is a marginal signal that only just worked on install day. We check dish size, LNB and cable runs, then set it up with headroom for Cape weather.
- “I want a second or third TV connected”
- Extra View or an additional point off the same dish, with the cable run properly rather than draped through a window.

- Dish taken down, remounted and re-aligned at the new address, decoder re-paired and tested on every point before we leave.

Straight answers
What does error E48-32 actually mean?
It means the decoder cannot see the satellite. In Cape Town that is nearly always the dish having drifted off alignment in the wind, water in the LNB, or a corroded connector at the dish end. It is very rarely the decoder itself, which is why replacing the decoder usually does not fix it.
Can you install a dish if I live in a flat or a complex?
Usually yes. Many complexes have a communal dish you can connect to, which is quicker and cheaper than a new install. Where there is no communal dish, we can wall-mount on a bracket instead of drilling the roof, subject to the body corporate agreeing to the position.
How long does a new DStv installation take?
A straightforward single-view install is normally two to three hours, including the cable run and the signal check. Extra points, difficult roof access or a long cable run add time, and we will tell you that when we quote rather than on the day.
Can you run a second TV off the same dish?
Yes. Depending on your decoder that is either an Extra View link or an additional point, and we will run the cable properly through the roof or in trunking rather than trailing it across the room.
